Born and raised in Calgary, Nielsen is an experienced lawyer, having argued in all levels of court in Alberta and the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Nielsen has extensive knowledge in employment litigation, having represented numerous clients, both employers and individuals. He has also represented clients in complicated labour matters, dealing with Alberta and British Columbia labour tribunals. 

Nielsen also has significant experience representing clients who are dealing with disputes in the construction industry. He has represented clients with commercial litigation disputes, particularly small to mid-sized companies that are dealing with contractual issues or governance concerns.

Through representing insurance companies over the years, Nielsen has worked the insurance defence side in personal injury, medical negligence and construction disputes. This has given Nielsen in-depth knowledge in negligence claims with regards to personal injury and medical negligence, and provided him the tools and knowledge to assist clients in getting the compensation they deserve.

Nielsen has spent over nine years in the Canadian Army as an infantry officer. He still works part-time for the military reserves. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires - Alberta South, which is a security agency that operates in Southern Alberta.

When he is not working towards excellent results for his clients, Nielsen enjoys fly fishing on one of Alberta's many trout streams.
